Terms of Use

Last updated:

These terms apply when you use The Button Wall and when you rent a button on the wall. Please read them before you pay.

1. Who we are

The Button Wall (thebuttonwall.com) is operated by The Button Wall (“we”, “us”). You can contact us at leonardt@outlook.com.

2. The service

The Button Wall is a web page of 1,000 × 1,000 pixels on which you can rent a rectangular area and display a clickable button that links to a website of your choice. Areas are made of blocks of 10 × 10 pixels; the smallest button is 10 × 10 pixels. Each area can only be rented by one buyer at a time.

3. Who can buy

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. If you buy on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

4. Plans, prices and payment

  • The price is €0.10 per pixel for every 30 days (100 pixels × €0.10 = €10 for 30 days).
  • Plans last 30 days, 180 days (−10%) or 360 days (−20%) and are paid in full, in advance.
  • Plans do not renew automatically. We remind you by email before your plan ends.
  • The total, including any applicable taxes, is shown before you pay.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details.
  • When you start checkout, the area is held for you for a short time. If payment is not completed, the hold ends and the area becomes available again. If a late payment arrives after someone else has taken the area, we refund it in full.

5. Review before publication

We review every new button and every change before it is published. We may refuse a button at our discretion, in particular if it breaks the content rules below. If we refuse a new button, we refund your payment in full. Your plan starts when your button is approved and published.

6. Content rules

Your button text and the website it links to must not contain or promote:

  • sexual or adult content;
  • scams, phishing, malware or any attempt to deceive visitors;
  • hate, harassment, violence or discrimination;
  • illegal products, services or activities;
  • content that infringes someone else’s rights, including trademarks and copyright;
  • misleading labels, for example a button that pretends to be ours or another brand’s.

You are responsible for your button and for the website it links to. If a live button breaks these rules, or the website it links to changes in a way that breaks them, we may remove it. If we remove a button because it breaks these rules, no refund is due.

7. Editing your button

On 6 months and 12 months plans you can change your text, link and colors during the plan. Each change is reviewed before it is published; until then your current button stays live. On the 30 days plan the content stays the same for the whole period and you can change it when you renew. Your position and size cannot be changed during a plan.

8. Renewal and the end of a plan

You can renew from your management page. Renewing adds time to the end of your current plan, keeps your spot and charges the price in force at the time of renewal. When a plan ends without renewal, your button goes offline and your spot is held for you for 7 days. After that, the area is released and anyone can rent it.

9. Your management link

After payment we email you a private link to manage your button. Anyone with that link can see your button details and request changes, so keep it private. If you think it has been shared, contact us.

10. Right of withdrawal for consumers

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days of payment without giving a reason. By asking us to publish your button within that period, you agree that, if you then withdraw, we refund the price minus an amount proportionate to the time your button was live. To withdraw, email us at leonardt@outlook.com.

11. Licence to display your content

You keep all rights to your button text and any marks it contains. You give us a non-exclusive licence to display your button on The Button Wall and in screenshots of the wall used to promote it, for as long as your plan lasts and in archived screenshots afterwards.

12. What we don’t promise

We work to keep the wall online and fast, but we don’t guarantee any number of visitors, impressions or clicks, or uninterrupted availability. Links on the wall are marked as sponsored and do not pass search ranking.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence. Otherwise, our total liability to you for any plan is limited to the amount you paid for that plan, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profits.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version that applies to a plan is the one in force when you paid for it. We will post changes on this page and update the date at the top.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the operator is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
